Rishikesh

Sip some chai from a little stall overlooking deep valleys, hills, and gushing rivers. Or join rafters and kayakers who are out to conquer tough rapids on the Ganges, and trekkers and climbers who use this small town as a base for great Himalayan adventures.

Rishikesh is perched at an altitude of 1,360 feet, and hosts some of the best adventure sports in India. But what this town has a better reputation for, is its spirituality and yoga. It’s known as birthplace of yoga and meditating here is believed to lead to salvation. Visitors from all over the world take a break from their hectic city lives to rejuvenate -physically and mentally- in this idyllic mountain town. You can choose to spend a few days in an Ashram, join a Yoga Therapy centre, or indulge in a Luxury Rejuvenating Spa experience. Take a walk around the beautiful ghats and watch the evening aarti, or prayers, performed with fire. It is believed that a dip in the holy Ganges River cleanses people of all their sins, and that’s a great reason to enjoy the cool river water.

The Beatles had dropped by Rishikesh to visit their yoga guru, and now, you can too!
